The Stratmann Pump Station provides both in-line booster and tank filling capabilities to serve nearly 300,000 customers with daily drinking water. This facility includes two adjacent 11.5 million gallon ground storage tanks. The existing 80-year old pump station was very inefficient and well beyond its design life.
The new pump station included 6-350 hp horizontal split case pumps located below grade to ensure fully flooded suctions to maximize efficiency. All pumps are VFD controlled with soft start bypass for greater efficiency and reliability. An overhead crane and truck bay allows for hoisting of equipment throughout the facility.
This project is a great example of the cost, schedule and quality advantages found with design build delivery and was recognized by the regional DBIA with a project award.
