The Missouri Department of Transportation needed to replace the 75-year old deteriorating bridge crossing the Meramec River. This new plate-girder design bridge required 3 cofferdams in the river channel and 5 cofferdams in the floodway totaling 65,000 square feet of sheet pile. Once cofferdams were in place, 47,000 feet of H-Pile were driven and 11,000 cubic yards of concrete was placed. Once the new bridge was in service, the existing bridge was imploded, dropped into the river and removed in stages to maintain any river traffic.
