In 1977, Goodwin Brothers' second generation began pursuing roadway related projects to further expand the company’s capabilities. These earlier projects included various public bridge and roadway projects servicing the local area. With Goodwin Brothers' ever expanding know-how and extensive fleet of equipment, today’s diverse projects serve both public and private transportation needs by roadway, water and rail.

The Missouri Department of Transportation needed to replace the 75-year old deteriorating bridge crossing the Meramec River. This new plate-girder design bridge required 3 cofferdams in the river channel and 5 cofferdams in the floodway totaling 65,000 square feet of sheet pile. Once cofferdams were in place, 47,000 feet of H-Pile were driven and 11,000 cubic yards of concrete was placed. Once the new bridge was in service, the existing bridge was imploded, dropped into the river and removed in stages to maintain any river traffic.
